Learn more <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/article\/how-to-set-project-preferences\/#preferences\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"Navigation\"><\/a>Navigation<\/h2>\n<p>Expand the\u00a0<strong>Recent Projects<\/strong> menu in the left navigation panel\u00a0and select any project. Hover over the Project breadcrumb at the top, expand the\u00a0<strong>Execute<\/strong> module, and select <strong>Task Plan\/Task<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"Steps\"><\/a>Steps to Add Task Plans<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>The ADD button will be disabled if a single task plan is selected in the project preferences. Learn more <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/article\/how-to-set-project-preferences\/#preferences\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To add a Task Plan:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the <strong>ADD<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a Name.<\/li>\n<li>Select the Scheduling Type as Default Scheduling, Simple Scheduling, Advanced Scheduling, or Microsoft Project Client. By default, the Simple Scheduling option will be selected.<br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong>:<br \/>\na.\u00a0 You will see only the Advanced Scheduling option if the Advanced Scheduling license is enabled.<br \/>\nb.\u00a0 Scheduling types are based on the selected template. For example, the Simple Project Management template includes only the Simple Scheduling Type and a Microsoft Project Client.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the start date in the <strong>Task Plan Start Date<\/strong> field.\n<ul>\n<li>The Task Plan Start Date is default set to the Task Plan creation date.<\/li>\n<li>If the Task Plan Start Date is left blank, the task dates in the Tasks section will default to the Project Start Date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select the Source Task Plan (optional):\n<ul>\n<li>You can select a Task Plan to copy from either <strong>Project Task Plans<\/strong> (existing in the current project) or <strong>Template Task Plans<\/strong> (defined in the selected template). The list includes open and closed Task Plan,\u00a0 clearly shows whether each Task Plan belongs to a Project or Template.<\/li>\n<li>When copying, the following data is handled:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>From Template Task Plans:<\/strong> Name, Task Type, Task Mode, Is Milestone, Planned Effort, Dependency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>From Project Task Plans:<\/strong> Name, Task Type, Task Mode, Is Milestone, Planned Effort, Dependency. Additionally, Planned Start (aligned to Project Start Date, dependencies applied for successors), Planned Finish (based on Planned Effort), and Planned Duration (calculated from Start and Finish) are recalculated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If no Source Task Plan is selected, a blank Task Plan will be created.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You can also the new Task Plan by copying an existing Task Plan from either:<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Select the <strong>Task Actuals Tracking Mode<\/strong> as <strong>Manual<\/strong> or <strong>Based on timesheet data<\/strong>. You can only select the Manual option from the Task Actuals Tracking Mode drop-down if the Advanced Scheduling option is selected in the Scheduling Type field. If the Simple Scheduling\/MSP option is selected in the Task Module field, then the Task Actuals Tracking Mode automatically shows the Based on Timesheet data option. When a project item requires more data for reference, you can attach files that can be downloaded, edited, and uploaded. For more information, click\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/article\/collaboration\/\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p-ListBullet\"><b>Activity Log<\/b>: The Activity log displays the list of operations in reverse chronological order for activities performed such as updating, closing, reopening, etc. In the Activity Log, you can view the various versions and the differences between the two versions of a workitem. For more information, click <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/article\/understanding-the-activity-log\/\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/article\/tasks-overview\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tasks<\/strong>: <\/a>The Tasks tab shows the list of tasks available in the Task Plan. You can add, modify or delete these tasks, assign resources and log time against them, and can do much more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>System Fields:<\/strong> All the system-generated fields or uneditable fields are listed in the System Fields segment.\u00a0 Also, you can easily track the Task Plan&#8217;s progress with these important fields in the System Fields section.
