To do this, ensure that at least one Task Plan is open in the Task Plan listing of the project. If the open Task Plan uses the MSP scheduling type, you must have Microsoft Project (MSP) installed on your system to access and modify the MSP-based plan.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"AddButton\"><\/a>Add a Task using the ADD Button<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <strong>ADD<\/strong> button on the toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Task<\/strong> from the available workitem type. The <strong>Add Task<\/strong> dialog box appears<\/li>\n<li>Select the Task Plan to which you want to add this task, enter the task name, and select the card owner.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>ADD<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><a id=\"RightClick\"><\/a>Add a Task using Right-click<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click on the desired column to which you want to add.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Add Card<\/strong> in the shortcut menu.<\/li>\n<li>In the card placeholder, enter the task name and select the card type as <strong>Task<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>ENTER<\/strong>. The <strong>Add Task<\/strong> dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>Select the Task Plan to which you want to add this task, enter the task name, and select the card owner.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>ADD<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><a id=\"One\"><\/a>Adding a task when one Task Plan Available<\/h2>\n<p>When your project has only one Task Plan (as in the Simple Work Management template), any task created from the Work Hub is automatically added to that plan. In this case, the <strong>Add Task<\/strong> dialog box does not prompt you to select a task plan name.<br data-start=\"428\" data-end=\"431\" \/><strong data-start=\"431\" data-end=\"440\">Note:<\/strong> The Task Plan must be open to allow task creation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Add_Task_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13466\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Add_Task_1.jpg\" alt=\"Add Task\" width=\"625\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Add_Task_1.jpg 625w, https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Add_Task_1-300x108.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"Multiple\"><\/a>Adding a task when multiple Task Plans Available<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"196\" data-end=\"582\">When your project has multiple Task Plans, the Add Task pop-up prompts you to select the Task Plan name while adding a task from the Work Hub. You can specify the Task Plan, task name, and owner, then click the <strong data-start=\"414\" data-end=\"421\">Add<\/strong> button. By default, the logged-in (current) user is set as the card owner.<\/li>\n<li>The current date is set as the Planned Start and Planned Finish date if the Task Plan is created with Simple or Advanced scheduling.<\/li>\n<li>The Planned Start and Planned Finish dates are set as blank if the Task Plan is created with the Default scheduling.<\/li>\n<li>A task can be added to any open Task Plan. In the Add Task dialog box, if a Task Plan is temporarily unavailable for editing (for example, because another user is currently making changes), a lock icon is shown to indicate that it cannot be edited at that moment.
