Advanced Filters support single or multiple card types and can be set as Public (visible to all project members) or Private (visible only to you). Access and manage all your Advanced Filters from the central Advanced Filters page under Configure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Column Filters<\/strong> \u2013 Quickly filter the list based on existing column values without saving the filter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a id=\"AdvancedFilter\"><\/a>Advanced Filters<\/h2>\n<h3>Accessing the Advanced Filters Page<\/h3>\n<p>The Advanced Filters page is the central location to view, create, and manage all your Advanced Filters. All authenticated project members can access it regardless of their role.<\/p>\n<p>To open the Advanced Filters page:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the project navigation, open the <strong>Configure<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Advanced Filters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The page lists all filters visible to you \u2014 filters you created and public filters created by other project members. The list shows the following columns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Card Type<\/strong> \u2013 The card type(s) the filter applies to.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Filter Name<\/strong> \u2013 Click to open the filter in edit\/view mode.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Created By<\/strong> \u2013 The user who created the filter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Description<\/strong> \u2013 Optional description of the filter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visibility<\/strong> \u2013 Public or Private.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>+ ADD<\/strong> button creates a new filter. Single card type filters created from an Individual List View also appear here.<\/p>\n<h3>Creating an Advanced Filter<\/h3>\n<p>To create a new Advanced Filter:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On the Advanced Filters page, click <strong>+ ADD<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the Advanced Filter form, enter a <strong>Filter Name<\/strong> (required).<\/li>\n<li>Optionally, enter a <strong>Description<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select one or more <strong>Card Types<\/strong> (required). Selected card types appear as removable tags.<\/li>\n<li>Set the <strong>Make Public<\/strong> toggle:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li><strong>On (Public)<\/strong> \u2013 All project members can see and use this filter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Off (Private)<\/strong> \u2013 Only you can see and use this filter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Filter Criteria<\/strong>, define your conditions:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Select a <strong>Field name<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select a <strong>Data condition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select or enter a <strong>Value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>To add more conditions, click the <strong>Add (+)<\/strong> icon. To remove a condition, click the <strong>trash<\/strong> icon for that row.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>SAVE<\/strong> to store the filter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> When two or more card types are selected, the Field name dropdown shows only fields that are common to all selected card types, listed in alphabetical order. When only one card type is selected, all fields for that card type are available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"847\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23875\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot.png\" alt=\"Advanced Filters page showing the list of saved filters\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot.png 1920w, https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot-300x132.png 300w, https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot-1024x452.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot-768x339.png 768w, https:\/\/www.nimblework.com\/knowledge-base\/nimble\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/af-updated-screenshot-1536x678.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Using Advanced Filters in List Views<\/h3>\n<p>Advanced Filters appear in the filter selection dropdown of each relevant card type&#8217;s Individual List View.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A filter for a single card type (e.g. User Story) appears in that card type&#8217;s list view filter dropdown.<\/li>\n<li>A filter for multiple card types (e.g. User Story and Technical Story) appears in each of those card types&#8217; list view dropdowns.<\/li>\n<li>Filters created from within an Individual List View also appear on the central Advanced Filters page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When creating a filter from within an Individual List View, the Card Type is automatically set to that card type (single selection only), and the <strong>SAVE &amp; APPLY<\/strong> option is available to save and apply the filter in one step. When opening a multi-card-type filter from within a list view, the Card Type field is shown as read-only.<\/p>\n<h3>Editing an Advanced Filter<\/h3>\n<p>To edit an Advanced Filter, click its <strong>Filter Name<\/strong> on the Advanced Filters page. Only the creator can edit and save changes to a filter. If you open a public filter created by another user, it opens in view-only mode \u2014 use <strong>Copy<\/strong> to create your own editable version.<\/p>\n<h3>Copying a Filter<\/h3>\n<p>You can copy any visible filter \u2014 yours or a public filter created by another user \u2014 to use as a starting point.<\/p>\n<p>To copy a filter, select it on the Advanced Filters page and click <strong>Copy<\/strong>. The new filter is created with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> <em>Copy &lt;original filter name&gt;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Created By:<\/strong> your name<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visibility:<\/strong> Private by default (you can change this)<\/li>\n<li>All original card types, description, and criteria are carried over and can be edited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Deleting a Filter<\/h3>\n<p>You can only delete filters you created. To delete a filter:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select your filter on the Advanced Filters page.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Delete<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Delete option is only enabled for filters where you are the creator. It is disabled for filters created by other users.<\/p>\n<h3>Advanced Filters in Dashboard Analytics<\/h3>\n<p>Public Advanced Filters appear in the Dashboard Analytics filter selection dropdown so you can use saved filters for dashboard reporting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only <strong>Public<\/strong> filters appear in the Dashboard filter dropdown \u2014 Private filters are not shown.<\/li>\n<li>An <strong>eye icon<\/strong> next to each filter lets you view filter details (name, card type(s), criteria, visibility, created by) in read-only mode. Filters cannot be edited from the Dashboard.<\/li>\n<li>When a public filter is deleted, it is removed from the Dashboard dropdown. Copies of that filter saved as Public by other users remain available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Clear Filters<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To remove an applied Advanced Filter, select the <strong>Clear (\u00d7)<\/strong> icon next to the filter name above the list.<\/li>\n<li>To remove all filters, open <strong>More Options<\/strong> and select <strong>Clear All Filters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Examples<\/h2>\n<h3>Example 1: Filter by a single workitem type<\/h3>\n<p>Say you want to quickly see all high-priority User Stories in the project. Here is how to set up that filter.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Configure<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Advanced Filters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>+ ADD<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a name \u2014 for example, <em>User Stories \u2013 High Priority<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Card Type<\/strong>, select <strong>User Story<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Filter Criteria<\/strong>, choose <strong>Priority<\/strong> as the Field name, set Data condition to <strong>is<\/strong>, and pick <strong>High<\/strong> as the value.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>SAVE<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The filter is saved and listed as Private by default. This example shows how to use <strong>Add condition<\/strong>, the <strong>AND\/OR<\/strong> toggle, <strong>Add condition group<\/strong>, and the <strong>Make Public<\/strong> toggle.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Configure<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Advanced Filters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>+ ADD<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a name \u2014 for example, <em>High Priority Stories<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Card Type<\/strong>, select both <strong>User Story<\/strong> and <strong>Technical Story<\/strong>. Both appear as chips in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Enable the <strong>Make Public<\/strong> toggle \u2014 all project members can see and apply this filter. When the toggle is off, the filter is private and visible only to you.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Filter Criteria<\/strong>, set the first condition (the WHERE row):\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li><strong>Field name<\/strong>: Priority<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data condition<\/strong>: is<\/li>\n<li><strong>Value<\/strong>: High<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>+<\/strong> (Add) icon on the condition row. A dropdown appears with two options:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li><strong>Add condition<\/strong> \u2014 adds a single new condition row. A new row appears with an <strong>AND<\/strong> prefix. Set it to:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li><strong>Field name<\/strong>: Status<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data condition<\/strong>: is not equal to<\/li>\n<li><strong>Value<\/strong>: Done<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>AND<\/strong> label on any condition row to switch the operator between <strong>AND<\/strong> and <strong>OR<\/strong>. A grouped block appears labelled <strong>All of the following conditions are true<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Inside the group, click the <strong>AND<\/strong> between the two condition rows and switch it to <strong>OR<\/strong>. When applied, it shows User Stories and Technical Stories where Priority is High, Status is not Done, and Priority matches Critical or High in the condition group.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"ColumnFilter\"><\/a>Column Filters<\/h2>\n<p>Column Filter helps to filter the list quickly based on the existing columns.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prerequisites\">\n<p><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ensure that the List view displays the columns related to that attribute, for example, Status. It is better to select a few columns to avoid too much horizontal scrolling in List View.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steps to Add Column Filters<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Hover over <strong>any column header<\/strong> in the workitem listing.<\/li>\n<li>In the column header:<br \/>\na. Click the drop-down arrow.<br \/>\nb. Select <strong>Filter<\/strong> from the menu.<br \/>\nc. The filter panel opens, showing all available columns.<\/li>\n<li>From the <strong>Columns<\/strong> drop-down, select the column you want to filter (for example, Priority, Due Date, Tags).<\/li>\n<li>Choose an <strong>operator<\/strong> based on the selected column type.<\/li>\n<li>Select or enter the required <strong>value<\/strong> based on the chosen operator.<\/li>\n<li>Click anywhere outside the filter panel to apply the filter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The list view updates to show only the matching workitems. When a filter is applied, a filter icon appears in the column header. Clicking this icon opens the filter options again.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> If there are more than 500 instances of a workitem including <strong>All<\/strong> and <strong>None<\/strong>, then the filter option provides a search box. A connector appears between the filter conditions to define how they work together.
