Kanban Template
This template serves the purpose well for Project Managers who would like to execute their work using the Kanban methodology
Overview
This template is based on the Kanban methodology. It’s a visual system to manage work and visualize progress as it moves through the value stream. Kanban visualizes both the process (the workflow) and the actual work passing through that process. The goal of Kanban is to identify potential bottlenecks in your process and fix them so work can flow through it cost-effectively at an optimal speed or throughput.
Who should use it:
This template serves the purpose well for Project Managers who would like to execute their work using the Kanban methodology and have no time boxes to adhere to in order to deliver value. For example, teams who deal with tickets or irregular flow/unplanned stream of work can make use of this template.
Supporting features in the template:
Apart from the general set of features to help you plan, execute and monitor the work, following features are available specifically to help you work inline with the scrum methodology:
- The Execution Board is the visualization of the value stream. So, you can customize it as per your needs. For example, you can have multiple lanes to represent different value streams for different card types.
- You can define the WIP limit for each of the columns (steps of the value stream) so that you can identify bottlenecks and also scrutinize it to find the optimal flow across the steps.
- You can change the type of column defined in the value streams so that you have a better understanding of which columns are considered for wait time, ready, in-progress and completed states.
- In terms of monitoring we have Lean analytics that will help you monitor the project’s various aspects. The default dashboard template has the Cumulative Flow Diagram, Flow Efficiency, Throughput, Time Lost to Blocking, Cycle Time Distribution, Average Cycle Time and Cycle Time – Control Chart.
Benefits:
Once you have the required value stream configured and have work getting tracked on the board, the lean analytics will help you understand where the team has the bottlenecks and how it can be improved on a continuous basis so that the team delivers to its potential.
