Overview

If you are stuck for any reason while working on a card or workitem and effectively blocked from making progress and want to inform others of any help needed. It is marked as “blocked” until you unblock it. Blocking reasons may come in all shapes, such as insufficient information, task dependency, resource leave, etc.

Steps to Block Card

If you need to block a card due to insufficient information, dependency, or any other reason, go to the card details page and then follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Block option at the bottom of the page. The Block/Unblock popup window appears.
  2. Enter the blocking reason as well as a blocking comment specifying why the card is being blocked.
  3. Click the ADD BLOCK button. The Overall Status changed to “Blocked”.

Notes:

  • A blocked card cannot be edited, moved, or created as a spillover.
  • A card that has been blocked is highlighted in red in the workitem list and has the Block icon on the card in the Execution board.

The block information is available in the Previous Blocks and Collaboration, and Activity Log sections.

Steps to Unblock Card

The Previous Blocks section of the Block/Unblock popup window displays blocking information as well as the history of previous blocks. The same information is also available in the Collaboration and Activity Log sections. You can always unblock your card by going to the card details page and then following these steps:

  1. Click on the Block/UnBlock option at the bottom of the page. The Block/Unblock popup window appears.
  2. In the Previous Blocks Section, click on the Unblock option under Actions.
  3. Enter the reasoning for unblocking the card in the comment.
  4. Click the UNBLOCK button.
