Steps to Unblock Card

Overview

In Nimble, you can block cards to highlight obstacles that prevent work from progressing. A blocked card is visually marked on the Work Hub, making it easier for teams to identify issues and take corrective actions.
You can add one or more blocking reasons, provide comments (including mentions using @), and later unblock specific reasons once they are resolved. This flexibility helps you manage multiple blockers on a single card effectively.

Note: Make sure the Block/unblock button is enabled in the form’s Forms 2.0 configuration.

Steps to Block Card

If you need to block a card due to insufficient information, dependency, or any other reason, then follow these steps to block a card:

  1. From the card details page, click on the BLOCK option at the bottom of the page. The Block popup window appears, or  from the Work Hub, hover over the Block icon on the card and click to open the window.
  2. Add a blocking reason from the dropdown list and Add a blocking comment specifying why the card is being blocked .
  3. Click the ADD BLOCK button. The Overall Status changed to “Blocked“.

Notes:

  • A blocked card cannot be edited, moved, or created as a spillover.
  • A card that has been blocked is highlighted in red in the workitem list and has the Block icon on the card in the Work Hub.

The block information is available in the Collaboration, and Activity Log sections.

Managing Multiple Blocking Reasons

If a card faces more than one obstacle, you can add multiple blocking reasons:

  1. Repeat the above steps to add another block.
  2. Each new reason appears under the Previous Blocks section in the Block/Unblock window.

Steps to Unblock Card

The Collaboration section displays blocking information, which is also available in the Activity Log, along with a history of previous blocks. To unblock a card, go to the card details page and follow these steps:

  1. Open the Block/Unblock window from the card details page or Work Hub.
  2. In the Previous Blocks section, locate the blocking reason that has been resolved.
  3. Click “Unblock” under the Action column.
  4. The selected reason is removed, while other active blocks (if any) remain in place.

Note: This multi-block handling ensures that cards can reflect multiple obstacles at once, and you can clear them one by one as they are resolved.
