Training Card1: Familiarize yourself with Execution Board

Details:

What:

  • The Board helps visualize work (as a Card).
  • It helps define the steps through which work progresses, also called a value stream.
  • You can have different lanes to track different types of work IF they have different value streams. For example, we have given a separate lane for Risks, Action Items, and Issues.
  • You can have multiple columns and sub-columns in each lane for understanding progress in more detail (as you see in the sample Board)
  • You can move cards from one column to the next as work progresses.

Where & How:

  • Each project has a board, referred to as the ‘Execution Board’
  • You can configure it further as per your needs by using the Board Editor. You will find it in the overflow menu.

Pro-tip: Keep it simple in the beginning. Add lanes and columns as you need them.

Training Card2: Learn to add a Workitem

Where & How:

  • Right-click in the desired column of the Board and select Add Card option.
  • Another option is to use the ADD icon on the toolbar in the Board to add a new card.
  • You can also add cards from their respective listings in the project.

Pro-tip:

  • If you are adding a card type that you would like to have on the desired lane of the Board, set the default Board Lane attribute on the Card type.
  • You can also bring a card from the Backlog onto the board by using the “Add from Backlog” option under More.

Training Card3: Learn to assign a workitem to a user

What:

Card Owners are the team members who are responsible for the card.

Where:

  • Click on the profile picture on the card and you can choose one or more owners.
  • You can also update them via the Owners attribute on the form

Pro-tip:

  • Keep only 1 person responsible for a card unless multiple team members are responsible for it. Having one owner, even if multiple people have to collaborate to get the work done, creates better outcomes.

Training Card4: Learn to add a ToDo/Task

What:

  • Create ToDos are activities that need to be completed to complete the card.
  • Each ToDo should be a small piece of work and have only 1 owner.
  • The person on the ToDo can file their time on the page.

Where:

  • By default, a ToDo is created in the name of the Owner.
  • You can add ToDos through the ToDos segment on a card.

Pro-tip:

  • ToDos are expected to be short/preferably a day’s duration.
  • ToDos are designed to be added by people who work on the card.
  • If you have a standard list of activities to be performed for a card type, then use the Default ToDos feature. Find more details about it in the product help.

Training Card5: Learn to collaborate on your workitem

What:

  • You can discuss this with a team member or teams in the context of the card.

Where & How:

  • Collaborate tab is present on each workitem so that you can discuss it with others.
  • You can use the @ symbol to tag specific team members or teams. They will get notified.
  • You can use the ^ symbol to refer to an attachment on the card to give context to your comment.

Pro-tip:

Discuss using the Collaborate tab to keep the conversation in the context of the card.

Training Card6: Learn to update workitem attribute

What:

  • Information regarding the card is tracked against its attributes.
  • You can update the predefined attributes or add your tags to track the card.

Where & How:

  • You can update the attributes seen in the Details tab by:
    • Click on the card in the Execution Board
    • Click on the workitem row in workitem listing
  • For updating attributes of multiple workitems together:
